Live, Love, Lead

Giving

The Bible is clear that the Earth, and everything in the Earth, belongs to the Lord.  We all live as care-takers of the matters God entrusts to us.  This includes our finances.

In the early sections of the Bible, God asks his people to financially give to Him in two forms:  a tithe and an offering.  What is a tithe and how is it different from an offering? The word, “tithe” literally means tenth or 10%. A tithe is the first 10% of your income. An offering is anything you give above and beyond the 10%.

Why do we tithe? The Bible says, The purpose of tithing flows from God's desire to give each of us the opportunity to express God's supremacy over our lives. (Deuteronomy 14:22-24) Giving God a tithe is a reminder that God is the supplier of everything we have. It is also God’s personal invitation to an outpouring of his blessing in your life.

In Malachi 3:10, God says this: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” It is an extraordinary thing that in this regard, God invites us to put him to the test in these matters. In other words, he’s saying, “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out-give me.”

One of the main pressure points in giving relates to how much we trust God -- it relates to whether God is trustworthy.  It may also relate to how you feel about the church and/or ministry you are supporting.  In these difficult financial times, LifePointe understands these struggles and challenges very much.

Even so, we want to invite you to trust God.  God is trustworthy.  And God is doing a number of great things in and through LifePointe. So go ahead. Accept God’s invitation to put him to the test. Start tithing faithfully and watch what he does in and through your life and in and through the ministry and mission of LifePointe Church.
